THE MILES THAT MADE YOU – CHICAGO
Garmin understands the journey of a runner better than anyone — because we’re with you, around your wrist, helping you through it all. The missed happy hours. The rescheduled long runs. The rest days. The recovery hours. The early bed times. The day-to-day grind.
The Miles That Made You sheds light on the stories of 8 real athletes as they prepare for their 2023 fall marathon. In docu-style videos and editorial social posts, the campaign inspires and encourages all runners as they complete their own training blocks and get to the start line.

THE COMMUTE-TO-THE-SOUTHSIDE MILES
We all have our spots. Our trails. Our sidewalks. They’re the places we feel safe running. And we see the effort you put in to get where you belong — by managing sleep score and Body Battery and early miles before your day starts. These are the miles that made Karen.
THE MONDAY-LONG-RUN MILES
Eighteen weeks of training. Tempo. Easy. Long. And Garmin had your back the whole way. With daily suggested workouts that took into account your training load, your schedule and recovery. These are the miles that made Aaron.
THE AFTER-SCHOOL MILES
Runner is an identity. But not always the full story. To get to the start line, you can’t ignore everything else that got you there. Friends. Family. Little cheer squads that make all the difference in your speedwork – including how you manage your training readiness score for an afternoon workout. We see that. These are the miles that made Janessa.
THE INJURY-WON’T-STOP-ME MILES
The marathon training block isn’t easy. It’s a roller coaster of training runs — good and bad. And sometimes even injuries. The important thing is to not let the injuries stop you. And what’s really cool is we’re able to see when they don’t. Load ratio: optimal. These are the miles that made Rachel.
